Power BI Developer

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Power BI Developer to design, develop, and maintain business intelligence solutions that transform data into actionable insights. The role involves working closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to deliver interactive dashboards, reports, and data models that support decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

BI Solution Development

• Design and build interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations in Power BI.

• Develop and optimize data models (Star/Snowflake schemas) for reporting.

• Create DAX measures and calculations to support complex business logic.

• Ensure solutions meet performance, usability, and scalability requirements.

Data Management & Integration

• Connect Power BI to diverse data sources (SQL Server, Azure, Excel, APIs, cloud services).

• Collaborate with data engineers to design ETL processes and data pipelines.

• Maintain and enhance Power BI datasets, dataflows, and gateways.

• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security in reports.

Business Engagement

• Work with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate them into BI solutions.

• Conduct requirement-gathering sessions, workshops, and user training.

• Deliver insights that enable business users to make data-driven decisions.

Governance & Best Practices

• Apply best practices for data modeling, security (Row-Level Security), and report design.

• Manage deployment pipelines and version control for BI assets.

• Support Power BI governance, standards, and Center of Excellence (CoE) practices.

• Provide technical documentation and knowledge transfer to users.

Qualifications & Skills

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power BI Report Builder.

• Strong knowledge of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and Power Query (M language).

• Hands-on experience with SQL for querying and data preparation.

• Familiarity with Azure Data Platform (Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Lake, Data Factory) is a plus.

• Understanding of data warehousing, ETL, and dimensional modeling.

Business & Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to translate business requirements into BI solutions.

• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery methodology preferred.

Preferred Experience

• Microsoft certification (e.g., DA-100 / PL-300: Power BI Data Analyst Associate).

• Experience integrating Power BI with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Dynamics 365.

• Knowledge of R or Python for advanced analytics is a plus.

• Prior experience in a consulting or enterprise BI environment.

• Salary: Above market - can be negotiated

• Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days WFH - can be negotiated depending on candidates’ location
